Description:
The WNYDDSO provides residental services to the Developmentally Disabled of Western New York. We serve the seven counties of Western New York which include; Erie, Orleans, Niagara, Genesee, Allegany, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus. We also provide family support, respite, Family Care, Senior Companions,Day Habilitation, Integrated employment services and other related clinical support to the agency consumers.

History:
The agency was developed in 1962 under the guidance of the New York State Office of Mental Hygiene. At one time the institution housed about 1800 clients and since that time the agency is now at a population on the West Seneca campus of about 140 consumers. The development of over 150 community residences, 9 day programs, family care and support services has enabled the ladies and gentlemen with Developmental Disabilities a chance to live in a normal environment while being employed or gaining new skills to make life more meaningful and rewarding.
