Description:
City of Buffalo Animal Shelter in recent years has implemented an adoption program along with a new volunteer program. The volunteers play a very important role in assisting in adoptions by greeting propective adoptees, matching the family to an appropriate animal and informing public of adoption policies.

Volunteers are needed to walk dogs, socialize cats, help with offsite adoptathons via the "PAWS" wagon. transportation of animals, short term or long term foster care. You must be 21 years of age or have a parent present. Volunteers can commit whatever amount of time they feel comfortable with , whether an hour a week or an hour a month. Orientations are held every Wednesday at 6:00 PM.

History:
The shelter is under the supervision of the Streets & Sanitation Department. According to City law the shelter is obligated to house stray dogs and dogs involved with court cases.
