The Western New York Chapter of AFSP needs board members experienced in community outreach who would be willing to attend quarterly meetings, chair a committee or be an officer, and help with the following activities:
-develop annual business plan and budget for funds already raised through successful Out of the Darkness Community Walks (highest priority).
-assist with community education efforts and be willing to go through suicide prevention gatekeeper training.
-assist with annual town hall meetings to inform local colleges and university researchers on how to apply for AFSP national grants.
-assist with ongoing fund raising through Out of the Darkness Walks held each fall, as well as assist with our spring fundraiser, the Preserving Hope Gala.
-take an active leadership role in at least one of our Chapter committees.
