Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Our refugee resettlement department aids in the resettlement and adjustment of between 100 - 200 refugees per year. Many of these families come from camps without any Western amenities, and arrive completely unprepared for most aspects of urban American life. We are looking for a volunteers or interns who will assist our Case Managers in easing the adjustment process of these clients. Duties will include helping take clients to appointments, aiding with school registration, and mentoring newly arrived refugees through processes like grocery shopping and navigating the city bus system. Applicants should expect and be desirous of very hands-on work, though there will also be some occasional indirect/office work required as well. Minimum high school diploma. Available to work regularly for at least 3 hours a week. This opportunity is sponsored by: International Institute of Buffalo
