Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Creating Assets, Savings & Hope (CASH) Buffalo is seeking volunteers for its free tax preparation network. Over the last five years, the local volunteer network has completed more than 43,000 state and federal returns and brought more than $50 million dollars into the community via tax refunds and credits. With your help, we can increase these numbers and reach even more hard working, low-to-moderate income persons.

CASH Free Tax Preparation volunteer positions include: Greeter; CASH Advisor; Tax Preparer and Tax Expert.

Greeters serve as the first point of contact with the taxpayer; provide overview of the site & services; answer general questions; and maintain the lines of tax clients for tax preparation.

CASH Advisors determine taxpayers eligibility for service; assists taxpayers in completing intake forms; review and sort taxpayer documents; provide information about financial education and asset building opportunities; and prepare materials for tax preparers.

Tax Preparers complete the tax returns and print the returns; review returns and discuss the next step with taxpayers.

Tax Experts are an experienced tax preparer, accountant or CPA which act as a roaming resource person for preparers and will assist in challenging issues. They also review returns for accuracy.

Inexperienced volunteers are welcome. All necessary training will be provided at no cost by Creating Assets, Savings & Hope (CASH).
