Volunteer Opportunity Details:

For the Birds! is a school-based environmental education program that teaches science, environmental awareness, and appreciation of nature through the study of birds. This program, which has been extremely successful in other areas of the state, is coming to western New York!

We are looking for volunteers to assist our educators or to teach the program themselves in schools throughout Niagara County. Volunteer positions include lead teacher, assistant teacher, and field trip assistant. Each session runs for eight weeks, and includes both classroom instruction and outdoor experiences.

UPDATE: After a very successful spring session, we expect many schools to participate next year! For the Birds! is now accepting volunteer applications for the fall session.

This volunteer opportunity is open to anyone who enjoys working with children and appreciates nature. Previous experience with children ages 7-11 and some knowledge of birds are preferred, but not required.
Attendance at a one-day training session is mandatory for lead and assistant teachers.
All volunteers working with children must pass a criminal background check.
