Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Intensive Treatment Unit - Living Unit 807 patients range in age from 11-18 years of age. Patients receiving psychiatric treatment on this unit are at "higher risk of hurting themselves and/or others". Volunteers will assist the members of this treatment team providing care to our adolescents and their families. Services provided to the adolescents and their families receiving care from this unit include Psychiatric, Pediatric, Psychological, Social Nursing, Recreational, Occupational, Educational, Psycho-educational, Nutritional, Pharmacy, Religious, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc. Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles to assist the staff from these various programs. Requirements: Volunteers must participate in an interview with the Coordinator of Volunteer Services. Documentation must be provided at the time of the interview by the potential volunteer such as providing two references, photo identification (such as a driver's license), provide a copy of their past immunizations, complete a "State Central Register Database Check" etc. After wards, a tour of the facility will be given. Once the references are completed and the Database Check had come back to say the volunteer is clear of any abuse charges, the volunteer is placed with a competent mentor/supervisor. A thorough orientation is done with the Coordinator of Volunteer Services concerning important Facility policies and procedures regarding safety, HIPAA, confidentiality, dress code, infections control, etc. This opportunity is sponsored by: Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center (WNYCPC)
