Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Disaster Action Team (DAT) members are specially trained to support victims of emergencies such as fires, natural disasters, floods, etc. With their help, the Chapter can be quickly mobilized for disaster response. DAT members provide immediate, on-the-scene assistance with food, clothing and shelter to victims of disaster in accordance with local and national policies of the American Red Cross. On average, the Greater Buffalo Chapter responds to 1 fire each day, 365 days a year. Over 50% of the people assisted are under the age of 18. Mature person with good written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to respond to emergency situations when needed. Accept "on-call" assignments at least two times per month. Must possess a valid NYS Driver's license and be at least 17 years of age. Training is provided. ![]() This opportunity is sponsored by: American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter
