Don't Be A Wallflower...Plant Flowers!
This past week was yucky with rain, but it was necessary for all the green spaces we're developing. This week, we will be pushing ourselves to finish preparing some vacant lots so that we can plant strawberries, sunflowers, and wildflowers. We will also continue to build the pumpkin patch, some beds, and other accents in the gardens - and getting in the plants before it's too late! We will be working every day this week - come by any time from 10am - 5pm, bring your garden gloves and your sun hat and spend some time with us! Please call Caesandra Seawell at 885-4131. Do You Like To Paint?!
Brush Up Buffalo 2009 is Fast Approaching This year's event will take place in the University District on Saturday, June 20. Pease begin assembling your volunteer teams and register today. As always, the event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with check-in and breakfast, and will end with lunch around noon. We plan to paint at least 10 to 15 homes this year and will need at least 600 volunteers. Roving Reporter And Photographer Needed!
The Buffalo Urban League is looking for a Volunteer with journalism skills to write stories about the BUL and to connect our work to what is going on in the community at large. We have electronic and hard copy newsletters, annual reports, and other materials that need content. In addition, we need a Photographer who is willing to donate their time and talent to take pictures of BUL programs in action for our web site and many of our publications.
