Description:
Volunteer The Arthritis Foundation, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter is in need of volunteers in a number of program areas including: Special Events Help increase the awareness of arthritis by getting involved in your community. Join your area Walk Committee. Help to raise funds that are necessary to support arthritis research, education, and training. Events include: Jingle Bell Run and Arthritis Walks. Clerical Support **NEW** Assist with in-office event preparation, patient information mailings and other clerical tasks as needed. Training is provided.
Arthritis Ambassador Be trained to provide presentations about arthritis and the Chapter's programs at community health fairs and various facilities. Brochures, flyers and other materials will be provided.
Advocacy & Public Policy Volunteers work towards addressing and improving public policy issues and decisions that influence arthritis and the Foundation.
Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program Instructor Warm water exercise program led by trained volunteer instructors, designed to help individuals with arthritis to move better, increase joint flexibility and ease pain.
Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Program Instructor Trained leaders that teach people positive steps to take charge of the arthritis through this six-week course. The Chapter provides general arthritis self-help courses and fibromyalgia self-help courses.
Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program Instructor Volunteers are trained to facilitate land exercise programs. The program includes activities that seek to improve certain physical parameters such as strength, flexibility and joint motion. The Arthritis Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organization that supports the more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions. Founded in 1948, with headquarters in Atlanta, the Arthritis Foundation has multiple service points located throughout the country. The Arthritis Foundation is the largest private, not-for-profit contributor to arthritis research in the world, funding more than $380 million in research grants since 1948. The foundation helps people take control of arthritis by providing public health education; pursuing public policy and legislation; and conducting evidence-based programs to improve the quality of life for those living with arthritis. Partnerships In addtion to work in the areas of Research; Public Health; and Public Policy, the Arthritis Foundation partners with other organizations in the fight against arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention developed the National Arthritis Action Plan (NAAP) to lead the attack on the public health challenges of arthritis.
