History:
Leadership Berks was founded in 1985 by the United Way of Berks County, the Junior League of Reading, PA Inc., the United Labor Council of Reading-Berks, and the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Nearly 700 individuals have graduated from programs over the past 25 years, many of whom have advanced into leadership positions with their employers and continue to serve the local nonprofit community.

On July 1, 2009, Leadership Berks was honored to become a full program of Alvernia University in the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies.

The merger allows Leadership Berks to deepen the impact of services in the nonprofit sector with the intention to offer nonprofit management training, and broaden the ability to serve the business community with degree and non-degree programs, as well as on-site training and certificate programs.
