Teach our youth about being safe and responsible babysitters. Education Health

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 30, 2009

You can help keep our children safe by providing them with well-trained babysitters. As a Babysitter's Training Instructor, teach 11-15 year-olds the skills involved in caring for children, including decision making, choosing safe playtime activities, how to prevent accidents and injuries, and what to do when an emergency occurs. This is a great opportunity for individuals with teaching experience, or experience working with teenagers or children. Parents, teachers, babysitters, child care professionals, nurses, that means you!

Babysitter's Training Instructors must be at least 17 years old and must complete a criminal background check before volunteering. Teaching experience is preferred, but not required, we will train you! The training time is about 15 hours. Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly recommended, since an instructor candidate must demonstrate proficiency in rescue breathing, first aid for conscious choking, and control of bleeding.
