Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The Hospice program for Berks Visiting Nurse Association is expanding the Acute Care Volunteer program. We are looking for individuals who want to make a significant difference in someone's life by sharing themselves with our clients and their families.
Acute Care Volunteers are deeply caring individuals. Making visits in the hospital setting, they lend support to the patient and their families during the last days of life. These volunteers are comfortable being supportive by lending a listening ear, offering friendship and often just extending the gift of "presence". By providing much needed breaks of respite time, the family can be reassured someone is with their loved one while they take time for themselves. Often this is a quick trip home for a change of clothes or a brief meal at the snack bar.
Our Acute Care program is seeking responsible individuals who will commit to one day a week of volunteering at the hospital. Visits can be as brief as 20 minutes and as long as need be. It can be up to you!

Acute Care Volunteers are required to attend a training program and be certified. Trainings are held to accommodate volunteer hectic lifestyles. Individuals above the age of 18 will be considered for this program
