You can be personally involved in promoting financial stability to low-income individuals and families by providing free tax preparation at one of the many VITA sites across Berks County. VITA sites ensure that eligible families receive their often unclaimed Earned Income Tax Credit. Consider serving as a volunteer! Short-term, effective volunteer effort   Volunteer as much as you'd like, mid-Jan to mid-April   Different volunteer roles available, including Greeter, Site Coordinator, Tax Preparer and Translator   Free tax training by the IRS for volunteer tax preparers   No experience needed   Supervising tax professional available at all times   No liability to tax preparer (sites are IRS approved)   Countywide locations and flexible evening and daytime hours   One volunteer hour can boost a family's income an average of $1,700   To sign up to become a Volunteer Tax Preparer with the Berks County Money in Your Pocket Coalition, please visit www.uwberks.org and click on the link to complete the online Volunteer Application.
