"In response to God's love in Jesus Christ, Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries will demonstrate God's command to love the neighbor through acts of service." Diakon Volunteer Home Care (DVHC) provides short-term / intermittent help to seniors during critical times in their lives. Caring , trained volunteers lend helping hands. All services are provided free of charge to the client. Volunteers help seniors with: companionship through visitors or telephone calls; grocery shopping; meal preparation in the client's home; household or outdoor chores and minor household repair; and transportation to medical appointments. Volunteers receive training, ongoing support and mileage reimbursement.   Volunteer Opportunities Include: Transportation for seniors Grocery shopping for seniors Companionship through visiting and telephone reassurance Meal preparation in a senior's home Household and outdoor chores and minor home repairs
