Would your family or organization be interested in sponsoring a patient by purchasing a gift? This opportunity is sponsored by: Wernersville State Hospital Volunteer during the Holidays at Patient Care, Inc. Volunteering during the holidays is a wonderful way to give to someone who needs those things that money just cant’ buy - companionship, a listening ear, a reminder of the goodness of life- all these and more can bring some hope and life into a time when it is easy to just want the days to be over. At Patient Care there are several ways people can volunteer their time. We can always use hand-made small decorations, cards, picture frames, etc. that we can take as “presents” from volunteers. Another idea is to make small heart pillows and write on them “someone is thinking about you” in permanent ink or marker. Patients and their caregivers will appreciate your thoughtfulness as they go through the holidays while being under hospice care. For more information please contact: Rev. John Holsey, Spiritual Services/Volunteer Coordinator at jholsey@patientcare.com or 484.437.0341. This opportunity is sponsored by: Patient Care, Inc. Volunteer to prepare Buck A Book materials! This will be our 13th Buck A Book fundraiser. In order to have a successful campaign, we need volunteers to help prepare the materials. This includes collating, stuffing and sorting envelopes and other necessary materials. All materials must be delivered to the participating school districts by the first week of January. We need the help of dedicated groups of volunteers to help us meet this deadline. Buck A Book is a reading campaign whereby people raise funds for the Literacy Council by getting pledges of at least a 'buck' for each book they read. The program promotes reading by providing incentives for levels of achievement. Buck A Book also fosters positive participation in the community, providing assistance to those adults in need of literacy skills. Please consider contributing time this holiday season to help the Literacy Council of Reading-Berks eliminate illiteracy in Berks County by helping with our Buck A Book campaign! We have worked with high school students on this part of the campaign in the past, but any group and/or individuals are welcome. We prefer that the work be done at our office, in order to answer any questions or give any assistance needed, but this project can be done at another location. The training is minimal: 15 minutes of setup with the group coordinator. This opportunity is sponsored by: Literacy Council of Reading-Berks Celebrate New Year's Eve with Us The Youth Coalition of Berks County is planning a Teen Lounge as part of the New Year's Eve Celebration being held at the Sovereign Center.
