Scott County Humane Society
The mission of the Scott County Humane Society is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable pets in Scott County. The Scott County Humane Society strives to end the needless deaths of adoptable dogs and cats through spay/neuter programs, educational programs, and adoption programs.
Description:
The Scott County Humane Society sponsors two spay/neuter programs. The first one is a low cost/no cost clinic to alter pets. This is called the SNIP Clinic. There is a clinic every week. The second is a program to spay/neuter feral and/or barn cats. This is called TNR. This clinic is completely staffed by volunteers and utilizes the services of a local veterinarian, who donates her time. There is at least one clinic per month. We provide educational programs for the community as requested. We also foster animals for adoption.
History:
The Scott County Humane Society has been around since the 1970's. The organization has grown and changed during its time and now collaborates with the Scott County Animal Shelter to re-home unwanted pets.
