     VA Volunteer Van Drivers Health

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on July 7, 2009

Volunteers are needed to drive a van to pick up veterans in the Lexington area who need transportation to attend scheduled medical appointments at the Lexington VA Medical Center. Clinic times are during Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM through 4:00 PM. So, volunteers interested in this assignment would need to be available to drive during one of those days and times. Volunteer drivers can serve on a regularly assigned day or on an "on-call" basis. This is a very important volunteer assignment as it helps to ensure that veterans who need transportation are able to attend scheduled medical appointments.

Volunteers must complete a new volunteer application, pass a health screening, be fingerprinted for a background check, have their driving record checked, and receive training on defensive driving and other volunteer orientation information.
