Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteers are regularly needed to assist park staff on a daily basis and are vitally important when the park plays host to world class events like the Rolex- Kentucky Three Day Event, major museum exhibitions and of course the up coming Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010.
The duties vary from helping in the offices, interacting with the public, to mucking out stalls in the barn. It all depends on what the volunteer prefers. There is something for every one here!

The following is a list of volunteer opportunities for the Horse Park.

In the Museum Area

Visitor Information Host.
In order to provide the best vistor experience we can for guests from across the US and around the world, or simply in our own back yard, we often need volunteers who can advise and direct guests on how best to enjoy their time at the park.

Tour Guide.
With thousands of adult and school group visitors coming to the park every year, we need volunteers who can give interpretive tours of the museum and park grounds,and play host to various VIP groups

Arboretum Guide.
With our KHP certified by the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta, we need volunteers who can guide and direct groups through the trail.

Museum Research Assistant.
At the International Museum of the Horse, we need volunteers to help conduct background research on displays and upcoming exhibitions.

Data Entry.
With so much going on around the park, we need volunteers to help keep our information up to date and provide general office help. There is always lots to do here!

Gift Shop.
In our gift shop or tack shop, we sometimes need volunteers to assist with sales, bagging, merchandising and stocking up.

Special Events.
Volunteers are needed for various park-sponsored events during the year to help with a variety of functions such as information clerks, kids activity leaders, survey takers, etc

Behind the scenes in the museum.
We need volunteers who can work with our curators maintaining and restoring the artifacts on show.

Southern Lights Host.
During our annual Southern Lights holiday event, we need volunteers to advise and direct visitors during our evening festivities.November and December only.

In the Barn Area

Show Host.
Assist with the Parks various presentations by acting as a safety usher and information guide.

Breeds Barn.
In our Breeds Barn, we need volunteers to help with general stable duties, the Parade of Breeds Show and possibly riding in the daily shows.(Pending approval of the Director of Equine Operations)

Horse Drawn Tours.
In our Draft Barn, we need volunteers to help with general stable duties and preparing the Draft horses for the various shows and parades that takes place in the park.

Hall of Champions.
In the Hall of Champions Barn we need volunteers to help with general stable duties and offer tender care to our famous horses.

A commitment of at least two, half-day sessions a month is expected.
Training will be given for all volunteer positions.
