Adapted Book Creators   Come help us create "talking books" using everyday tools! Adapted digital books will be placed in our Library for loan to families, teachers and therapists serving young children with disAbilities to have access to literacy. You may select which of the 17 steps you would like to perform in creating an adapted digital book for young children with disAbilities: acquire books, grab data for our database, scan book into computer using digital scanner (just like using a copier!), crop/rotate images, record audio (well some one has to read the book!!), place cleaned images into PowerPoint slide show, create basic comprehension/assessment questions, create visual language supports using a specialized computer program (piece of cake!), quality checks thru out process, prepare books for distribution (burn CDs, laminate documents, package, etc), and inventory.   We will walk everyone through the process and help them select a specific task. We have even created step by step directions for most tasks so that each step is simple to perform. Don't let the word "technology" intimidate you, you'll be glad you tried it!
