United Way of the Bluegrass is excited to announce plans for Day of Action – Extreme Community Makeover. Now in its fourth year, the popular volunteer makeover project is being moved to coincide with the national Day of Action on June 21. This year, the focus will be on nonprofit childcare providers who are currently or are interested in participating in Kentucky's STARS for Kids Now quality rating system. Applications are now being accepted from childcare centers requesting renovations and volunteer teams who would like to be a part of this fun and exciting renovation project. Volunteer teams provide the time, talent, energy and $500 budget to renovate rooms. They will be paired with a childcare center at the end of May and will have until June 21 to complete work on the room.
