Lexington Rescue Mission has many functions in the community:
-The Life Renewal Program, a 12-month residential recovery program for men struggling with addiction
-The Homeless Prevention Program, an emergency rent and utility assistance fund that helps individuals and families facing eviction or having their utilities shut off
-Public meals and chapel services three days a week
-Clothing vouchers for our thrift store on Bryan Avenue
-Life-skills and computer literacy classes
-Medical care for uninsured clients
-And individual and family counseling
Lexington Rescue Mission provides basic medical procedures on clients in our Life Renewal Program and employment services program and needs nurses to volunteer. Other halfway houses may refer individuals to us. Triage severe cases to the local hospital.
If you would like to volunteer, you will need a current medical license valid in Kentucky. No MDs please (due to insurance reasons). RN, LNP, PA, CNA. A brief tour of the facility and lecture by on staff Nurse Practitioner will be provided. OSHA standards will be reviewed.
