Operation Read is seeking caring tutors to help adults improve their literacy skills. Tutors would work with either small classes or individuals to teach adult basic education. You hold the key to unlocking the futures of your neighbors here in Lexington. When Larry came to Operation Read in March 2004 - emotional and world-weary beyond his 52 years he was unemployed and nearly homeless. Larry wanted to improve his life but felt hopeless. After attending reading classes for five months, he could read above 6th grade level, his life and as his self-esteem improved. Today he is proud and employed. As he said when Channel 36 news interviewed him: "I went to Operation Read because I wanted to read my daughter's letters from Iraq. I hope others try for a better life. I got my life on track.
