| The mission of Growing Together Preschool, Inc. is to provide affordable learning and developmentally focused child care services to infants and preschoolers and their families. The nature of the services is educational, with emphasis on inclusion. Description: Growing Together Preschool, Inc. is a private, non-profit, United Way agency serving approximately 250 infants and preschoolers annually. The preschool is open year-round, Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. GTP provides early intervention services, a comprehensive developmental program, academic readiness for kindergarten, educational evaluations and screenings, and therapeutic services in an inclusive environment. The preschool serves children with and without disabilities, ages 6 weeks through 4 years.. GTP is accredited by the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).
History: GTP is an expanded version of a previously existing preschool program of the Bluegrass Association for Retarded Citizens (BGARC). Incorporated as Growing Together Preschool in September, 1982, the agency rented and renovated a crumbling two-story building on Georgetown Street until September, 1988. GTP moved to a new location at 599 Lima Drive, expanding the program and services. GTP was designed to meet the individual needs of children with and without disabilities, 6 weeks through 4 years of age in an inclusive environment. In the 24 years since our incorporation, GTP has experienced phenomenal growth, increased independence and expanded services.
