[ View Opportunity ]| Last updated on May 23, 2005 | Kentucky Harvest is a link between food donors and various feeding sites for the hungry and homeless in Lexington Description: Kentucky Harvest coordinates volunteers to pick up surplus prepared food from various donors (grocers, restaurants, vendors and hotels) and distribute this food to various feeding sites within the community.
History: Louisville native Stan Curtis began Kentucky Harvest in 1989. Kentucky Harvest has now spread to over 120 cities and is known nationally as Harvest USA. There are over 111,000 volunteers picking up and distributing food each week.
