The Farmington Valley Arts Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality education in and through the arts.

Description:
Incorporated in 1974 as a nonprofit organization, The Farmington Valley Arts Center is dedicated to providing quality education in and through the arts. The Arts Center offers ongoing classes for adults and children, rents studio space, provides career development opportunities for professional artists, and operates two galleries featuring fine craft and fine art on display and for sale. It also conducts outreach programs with central Connecticut schools and social service agencies and offers an intensive summer arts camp. The Arts Center is a vibrant and thriving arts community that enables visitors to experience the entire creative process, from seeing artists at work to viewing finished creations in a gallery to learning the skills necessary to create works of their own.

History:
The Fisher Gallery, named for the Arts Center's founder, Stanley D. Fisher, opened in 1988. Today, the gallery is one of the region's most flexible and innovative gallery and educational spaces. The Fisher Gallery is a venue for exhibitions, gallery talks, workshops, poetry readings and other educational events. It provides an ideal hub for showcasing the multifaceted aspects of the Farmington Valley Arts Center, which provides 20 studio spaces for working artists, offers classes for children and adults and reaches out to the community through a broad spectrum of educational programs.
