Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on June 18, 2009 |
Think about the many times that you have considered volunteering, or perhaps you have volunteered, but did not stay with it because you wanted to make more of a long term impact in the lives of those you were helping. Co-opportunity, a non-profit organization located Hartford, challenges our volunteers to use what is uniquely them when selecting their volunteer experience. For us volunteering is so much more meaningful when 1) you are sharing your true talents or areas of interest with others and 2) when the experience not only has a positive and immediate impact, but also has the potential to effect not only the person being helped, but perhaps generations that follow. Co-opportunity is working each day to make stable, and ultimately thriving financial futures happen for our low-moderate income clients and their families and with your skills and interests in the financial field or simply your desire to give back, we could make what we do that much better! The Budget Coach Program could be the ideal opportunity for you to take the next step and use what is uniquely you to help a working family get ahead. If you have a desire to help low to moderate income working families in the community gain the skills and resources necessary to become more financially stable, join us today!
You’ll be provided with training and a step by step curriculum that will equip you with all of the information you will need to make a difference in the lives of others. Previous coaching experience or financial training is not required. After completing the training, each coach will be assigned to someone who has indicated an interest in developing a practical budget with the support of a volunteer coach. Participants may be individuals who have had their taxes prepared at one of our volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) centers or who have been identified by participating community based organizations. You and the person you are coaching will meet 1x per month for 4 months with average meetings lasting about 2 hours. There will also be check-in calls to follow up between each meeting. As a result of the meetings and phone calls, the participant will have a better understanding of his/her finances and how budgeting contributes to a more stable financial future. Training: All training is provided free of charge. Simply contact Co-opportunity's volunteer manager to sign up for a training that works with your schedule. We are also willing to bring training to you should you have 10 or more interested participants . Email or call for details. Contact information for our volunteer manager is listed below.
