Nurturing Connections is a program that provides phone support to first-time parents. As a Nurturing Connections volunteer you will make phone calls to one or two interested parents living in the North Central CT region. Through weekly phone contact, you will provide emotional support, make referrals to community resources, and provide general infant development and well baby care information. You will receive as needed phone supervision and monthly face to face supervision involving other Connection Volunteers. Your phone call results will be logged by you and kept in a confidential folder. Connection volunteers have the opportunity to meet their assigned parents and other volunteers at bi-monthly gatherings. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application, provide references and must agree to a criminal background check. They must provide documentation they are free of communicable disease and have a TB test. Volunteers are required to participate in program training and are asked to make a commitment of at least one year. Volunteer must participate in face to face supervision on a regular basis.
