Volunteer Opportunity Details:

A Hand Up helps people moving out of homelessness into their first independent living place. We need volunteers to adopt clients' lists, gather as many items on the list as possible and arrange for people to help make the delivery. Someone from A Hand Up will be the liaison with the client and will go on the delivery. Recently we made a delivery to "Maria" who was in a shelter for abused women. She struggled for years with an abusive spouse and finally reached out and received help. She found a job and an apartment. We delivered a bed, chairs, table, sofa, bureau, linens, cooking and eating items. Maria is self-supporting and was very appreciative of the items we gave her. She looked around her apartment as we left and said, "Now I have a home!"

Volunteers should enjoy running a project. This opportunity can really build leadership skills.
