Volunteers Needed!

DECEMBER 4, 2008

XL Center, in Hartford

Volunteers needed between 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Project Homeless Connect (PHC) is a one-day service event that provides immediate access to a wide array of services and information intended to assist individuals and families who are homeless on the journey to permanent housing and stability.

Last year, over 450 individuals attended the Capitol Region's first Project Homeless Connect event. They received information on housing, employment, education, public benefits, medical services, veterans' services, as well as legal and financial services.  Many participants also took advantage of haircuts, foot massages and on-sight medical services and walked away with clothing, a backpack and other items that assisted them throughout the winter.

Project Homeless Connect (PHC) is a national initiative of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, and is now implemented in 130 cities across the United States as well as Canada, Puerto Rico and Australia. Local efforts are spearheaded by a coalition of civic and non-profit agencies and businesses.
