Being a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteer is a unique way to be involved in direct service and see the immediate impact of your efforts. By giving your time and talents at a VITA site, you can be involved in increasing the financial stability of working families.  It is often a moving experience to help a working family realize the tremendous financial benefit of claiming the money they've earned, including the Earned Income Tax Credit.

As a volunteer, you may greet tax filers or provide free tax preparation at one of many VITA sites across the Capital region – in Hartford, Enfield, Manchester, New Britain and Windham.

  • No Accounting or tax preparation experience necessary - Free certified training will be provided
  • Flexible Time Commitment - Day, Evening and Weekend hours available - Choose a convenient four hour weekly shift
  • Multiple Locations - Choose a VITA site near where you live or work
