Come join a Mother's Day tradition in the fight against breast cancer. Every year,
thousands of mother's, sister's, aunt's, and daughter's are diagnosed with this insidious
disease. For the past 10 years, thousands of women and their families & friends come
to Walnut Hill Park in New Britain to participate in a huge fund raising event to
raise awareness and money to support education, research, and treatment within Connecticut.
We also celebrate those women who have survived breast cancer and remember those
that have not. It is an extremely moving and special event, one which I have participated
in for the past 7 years, after my Aunt & Grandmother were diagnosed with breast cancer.
Now, being a 4 year survivor myself (I was diagnosed at 24) I still enjoy meeting
and helping the wonderful people who participate in our Race. You will see survivors
of 40+ years as well as survivors who are currently undergoing treatment, all ages,
races, and ability levels come together to celebrate life and the possibility of
finding a cure. Please consider volunteering on May 8th and be a part of this special
Mother's Day tradition, you will truly make a difference by giving your time and
talent to make this Race a success.
