The Harriet Beecher Stowe Museum celebrates annually the birth of Mrs. Stowe with a community party event including horse & carriage rides, Magic Lantern (Victorian "movies"), live musical performances, story tellers, playing crochet with "Mrs. Stowe," her "sister and daughter - Isabelle and Hattie", as well as birthday cake and lemonade. Greeters will help visitors locate the various activities, parking, and food vendors on site. They also help with the seating of guest on the carriage ride. Surveyers ask visitors for their impressions of the event. There is a form with 3-4 questions we would like guests to respond to. Volunteers must be friendly outgoing people who can work with people of various backgrounds. And they can have a little fun, too. The grounds of the party site cover 3 acres so being able to get around with no assistance is important. All are advised to come prepared with hats and sunscreen for protection as the event is an outdoor one.
