Active Oct 3, 2005 to Oct 20, 2005
Foodshare and local State Representatives invite your child's school to join in our efforts to fight hunger. This fall, we are educating area youth about hunger and how they can help end food insecurity in their community, right in their local schools. We believe that every person can help end hunger; people of all ages can make a difference. How? The program has four components. Students learn about hunger in greater Hartford, the importance of good nutrition, Foodshare's work and how they can help during a hands-on, interactive activity. Schools submit student's Thanksgiving or Foodshare related artwork by October 21st. The top prize winner in each school, and the school, are recognized in a ceremony by Foodshare and their local state representative, as schedules allow. The top prize winner gets to thank all of Foodshare's fall donors, with their artwork displayed on over 14,000 of Foodshare's holiday thank you postcards. This is a prized thank you for all our donors, and a great help! You can help by calling your children's school and asking them to participate! To learn more call Alicia Flynn at Foodshare! The Holiday Drawing Contest is open to all students grade 1-5. All artwork must be submitted through the child's school.
