Lilliput Children's Services exists to ensure a child's opportunity for permanence in a safe and nurturing family. Seeking to support foster children, or those at risk of foster placement, we work with foster/adoptive and kinship families.

Description:
Lilliput has four core programs:

Kinship Support Services Program (KSSP) - Since October 2007, we have supported extended family members who are raising relative children when their birth parents cannot do so. By doing so, we keep them safe within their relatives homes and out of the child welfare system. To date, we have served more than 400 kinship families in Sacramento, El Dorado and Napa Counties. We offer hope, support and guidance.

Foster Program - We recruit families willing to adopt the county foster children they foster. Our foster parents attend a mandatory 9 week training which prepares them to deal with the special needs of abused and neglected children. Every child deserves to be safe.

Adoption Program - We finalize the adoptions of children placed with foster families. In some cases these are families we placed the children with, but in most they are kinship families or county placements. Last fiscal year, we finalized 533 adoptions - that is 25% of the state's private agency foster/adoptions. All children need families.

Post Adoption Program - Adoptive families face struggles that traditional families do not, so by providing supportive post adoptive services, we help to minimize the disruption of adoptive placements. We are committed to families for life.

History:
Founded in 1980, Lilliput Children's Services is Northern California's leading provider of foster, adoption and kinship support services. We were founded with the goal of achieving early permanency for foster children. Languishing in foster care and moving multiple times is extremely detrimental to a child's well-being. By finding nurturing adoptive families, we minimize the trauma these children experience.
