Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The American Cancer Society, California Division's Government Relations office seeks qualified candidates internship opportunities. The Government Relations office is located in downtown Sacramento, walking distance to the State Capitol. Parking may be provided Our internship can also be arranged and organized for college students to receive school credit.

Our interns have the opportunity to shadow Government Relations Staff, including legislative advocacy volunteers, attend legislative hearings, participate in other advocacy activities, and learn how a large, non-profit, public interest organization operates.

Candidates should be available to intern a minimum of 10-12 hours per week. Our office is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific and is closed on alternating Fridays. All internships are voluntary and unpaid.

Sucessful applicants will need to support the American Cancer Society's mission to eradicate cancer, have a demonstrated interest in legislative advocacy and/or health policy, have strong writing and research skills, be responsible, reliable, and attentive to detail, and have basic computer skills including excel spreadsheets.
