Sacramento County 4-H Youth Experiences in Science

 

Position: Adult Coach

 

Can a garden snail pull a toy car? Experience how easy it is to transform of a collection of household items into a science experiment. The Youth Experiences in Science program delivers hands on science lessons to youth in after school programs. Teams of teens deliver the weekly lessons at a school in their neighborhood. Lessons cover a variety of subjects like recycling, bubbles, snails, and more.

 

A Youth Experiences in Sciences (YES) coach oversees the delivery of the 4-H YES program at an afterschool site in Sacramento County. Specifically the Adult Coach works with teenagers who deliver the YES curriculum and interfaces with school personnel to assure smooth delivery of the program.

 

We are currently looking for adults who:

·        Are fun!

·        Have a desire to work with teenagers

·        Enjoy working with youth ages 5-8 years old

·        Can give 2-3 hours a week to the project

·        Complete the 4-H Volunteer enrollment process

·        Attend a weekend training in late September
