Volunteer Reader Program

Did you know that reading with preschoolers is considered one of the best ways to help prepare them for success in school? The Volunteer Reader Program matches caring adults like you with partnering childcare programs in two Indianapolis neighborhoods.

Description:
We are looking for volunteers from all backgrounds and age groups, from students and seniors to professionals.

• Volunteer Readers are matched with child care programs based on their preferences and availability.
• Volunteers visit children once a week and read aloud for about 30 minutes.
• Volunteers are welcome to work with a partner or group to create a schedule that suits their needs.

Success By 6 and their partners provide training and resources on how to use appropriate books and activities to host a 30-minute storytime meant to engage the preschool audience.

If you, your workplace or group are interested in helping children be ready to learn, contact us to learn more!
