AIM (Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring)
Logo

To reduce the recidivism rate of Indiana's incarcerated youth through sustained relationships with adult mentors.

Description:
AIM fosters a structured mentor/mentee relationship between youth incarcerated at Indiana Department of Correction facilities and college students and community volunteers around the state. Youth are typically 14-19 years old and have been incarcerated for six months to one year. The goal is to help prepare our youth to work towards improving themselves so that they reenter society as assets rather than liabilities.

History:
AIM was started in 1995 by Dr. Roger Jarjoura a professor at Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI). He started by taking college students into the Plainfield Boy's School to work on reentry plans with juvenile offenders. Now AIM has expanded to working in all of Indiana's State Juvenile Correctional Facilities and we serve approximately 30 counties.
