2009 Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on July 7, 2009

The Indiana Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation is looking for volunteers to serve on its 2009 Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis planning committee.

As the nation’s largest holiday run/walk event, the Jingle Bell Run offers a three-mile timed run and a three-mile fun walk with activities for the entire family. Participants tie jingle bells to their shoelaces, don festive holiday costumes and join friends and neighbors to raise desperately needed dollars for arthritis-related research and health education.

This year’s event will take place Saturday, December 12th at the Indiana State Museum.

If you’re interested in joining the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis planning committee, please contact Tammy Sander at (317) 879-0321 ext. 207 or tsander@arthritis.org.

We are currently recruiting people to chair and serve on the following committees:

• Team Recruitment: Responsible for recruiting corporate, civic and family teams from the community. Also coordinates team kick off meetings and provides team captains with fundraising ideas.

• Sponsorship: Responsible for soliciting sponsorships (monetary and in-kind) while encouraging team involvement. Also responsible for seeing that sponsor contracts are upheld and correct. People on this committee should have a sales or marketing background and be well-connected within the community.

• Public Relations: Responsible for creating awareness of the Jingle Bell Run through all forms of media including radio, TV, print and computer technology. Also responsible for coordinating the emcee/speakers for the pre/post-event announcements.

• Logistics: Responsible for all event day details including equipment needs, volunteers, t-shirts, refreshments, registration, start/finish line, etc.

• Mission Delivery: Responsible for ensuring that the mission of the Arthritis Foundation is delivered to all Jingle Bell Run participants.

Most committees require a 3-4 hour/month time commitment and include monthly meetings. Our first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22nd at 5:30pm at Conseco in Carmel.
