Volunteer Opportunity Details: Last updated on June 5, 2009 The mission of the AHB Home is to provide compassionate, respectful, and dignified support to citizens of central Indiana who are terminally ill and without resources. With the help of many committed volunteers we offer comfort, warmth, and love at the end of lifes journey for our residents. Volunteers who assist with recreational activities may watch TV with residents, rent movies, read to residents or get books for individuals, explore art opportunities or music programs & listening resources, or accompany on trips to special events. Volunteers may also be responsible for providing automobile drives in good weather. AHB Home Volunteers must attend a 4 hour agency orientation, followed by a 4 hour end of life orientation. After completion, the volunteer shadows an experienced volunteer during a volunteer assignment. No medical experience is required, all volunteer positions are non-medical in nature. Volunteers must provide own transportation to the Home.
