Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 3, 2009

Why do people volunteer? To fulfill their sense of what it means to be human. Volunteering is an aspiration act: it is work we do willingly to fulfill our belief in what we must do for each other, a reaching for those qualities of humanity that we believe are the right ones, the ones that make us most human. For some, this is expressed as a “giving back” some of the advantages we have enjoyed. For others, it is simply their expression of the right way for humans to treat each other.

Volunteers are vital to accomplish the Army’s extensive work, especially at Christmas. There are many potential sources: churches, service clubs, and women’s organizations -- associations organized around people’s motivation to volunteer for a worthy purpose. And don’t overlook corporations. The community-relations or public-relations departments of many companies recognize the need for their institutions to give back to the community. It’s wonderful publicity for them and it’s a way they can harness the volunteering spirit of their employees to do the most good. Within a company, it builds a beneficial spirit of teamwork. Wise corporations will be receptive.

Please volunteer for our Christmas Effort. Your help is valuable to us.

If you wish to volunteer, you must have a social security and attend our one hour training meeting on November 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the below location.
Application for this event must be filled prior to the training meeting.
