Abby's House
Abby's House is a multi-service, non-profit organization in Worcester, Massachusetts that serves homeless and battered women and children. We fulfill our mission by empowering women to lead self-directed lives filled with dignity and hope.
Description:
Abby’s House operates an emergency overnight shelter for women and children as well as 78 units of affordable housing. We serve 6,000 meals each year. Abby's Thrift Shop is open six days a week, selling clothing for women and children and household items. Our Women's Center offers current and former shelter guests and residents a variety of social and educational programs. Volunteers are needed for all of these programs.
History:
Founded in 1976 by a group of activists led by Annette Rafferty, Abby's House has improved the lives of more than 10,000 women and children. Our success is thanks to the efforts of a small but dedicated staff, a broad base of community financial assistance, and hundreds of volunteers each year.
