Logo

The mission of Habitat for Humanity- MetroWest/Greater Worcester is to create decent homes in good communities by working in continuing partnership with people in need who are committed and able to become homeowners. Habitat's volunteers believe that simple, decent, and affordable housing can have a profound impact on stabilizing a family, and providing for long-term security. The Habitat program is one of self empowerment.

Description:
Partnership is the word most commonly associated with Habitat. Habitat for Humanity- MetroWest/Greater Worcester partners with selected families to build homes that are then sold to the families with no-interest mortgages. Home construction is just the beginning of Habitat's long-term relationship with new homeowners as they become active community members. In order to accomplish this, Habitat partners with local volunteers who supply nearly all of the required labor and local businesses which donate goods and materials. Habitat for Humanity- MetroWest/ Greater Worcester invites anyone willing to partner with us as we lend a hand to those in need of better housing. Please visit our website for more information about partnering with Habitat: www.gwhfh.org

History:
Habitat for Humanity- MetroWest/ Greater Worcester was founded in 1985 as a grassroots, non-profit and independently operated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. In our 24 years, HFH-MWGW has completed 28 housing units, mostly new single-family homes in Worcester and surrounding towns. Given the current housing crisis in the Worcester area, Habitat plans to increase the number of units built to at least five per year over the next few years.
