Community Healthlink is a multi-service, private, non-profit organization committed to promoting, maintaining and restoring the dignity, well-being and mental health of individuals and families in Central Massachusetts.
Description:
Community Healthlink delivers comprehensive services to more than 16,000 adults, children and teens who live in Central Massachusetts. Programs include outpatient mental health, outreach and advocacy for homeless individuals, residential programs for men, women and families recovering from addictions to alcohol and drugs, transitional housing for the mentally ill and homeless, children's mental health services, geriatric mental health services. Community Healthlink also provides outpatient services for Latino and Vietnamese populations that are linguistically and culturally appropriate.
History:
Community Healthlink was established in 1970 as the Worcester Area Drug Coalition, and then became the Worcester Area Community Mental Health Center in 1976. The name was changed to Community Healthlink in 1992 to reflect the agency's growth and continuum of care. In 1996 Faith House merged with Healthlink and a year later the Worcester Youth Guidance became a division of the organization. In 1999 The Lipton Center, which serves people from North Worcester County, also merged with Community Healthlink. Today, the entire organization is a member of the UMass Memorial Health Care system.
