Heirloom Harvest Community Farm
Heirloom Harvest is a community farm, that commits to integrate volunteers into the work of farming, and donates a portion of the harvest to charity (In 2004, Heirloom Harvest donated over 8000 pounds of produce to charity). Community farms value creating community and service to it, farmland stewardship, growing food in an environmentally safe way, and education.
Description:
Heirloom Harvest is a CSA vegetable farm using organic techniques to grow more than 40 different kinds of vegetables and hundreds of varieties, including unusual or heirloom selections, a diverse agricultural heritage that is endangered by the conformity and consolidation of modern farming practices. Heirloom Harvest is a privately managed project (not a 501c3) that operates on 6 acres of land owned by Saint Lukes' Parish in Westborough. The farmland is surrounded on 3 sides by the Great Cedar Swamp, and on one side by Saint Lukes' Cemetery. In addition, the church allows public access to the land for walking or hiking around the fields or into and out of the swamp from dawn to dusk, as long as such users respect posted signs and stay on the trails.
History:
Heirloom Harvest is committed to working with members of the community to serve the community and provide the best organic stewardship that we can to the land that we farm.
