Children's Friend, Inc.

Our mission is to improve the lives of children and those who love them.

Children's Friend is here to make a difference in the lives of the children and youth in central Massachusetts. Whether it was running an orphan's home in the early years, providing adoption services, advocating for child welfare programs in Massachusetts, working to keep pregnant teens in school, or delivering mental health services, the agency has always been in the vanguard of approaches that strengthen and improve the quality of life for children and their families. Our newest program is the first grief center in central Massachusetts (see description below).

Description:
Children's Friend currently provides four distinct programs:

  1. Ellsworth Child and Family Counseling Center - This program provides quality mental health services to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral problems.
  2. School Age Mothers (SAM) - SAM is the only certified alternative school program for pregnant and parenting teens in Central Massachusetts. Young mothers are able to stay in school while their babies are cared for in our day care center.
  3. Adoption and Family Services provides foster care and adoption-related services.
  4. The Carriage House provides a safe place for young people 3-18 years old and their families to grieve in the company of other kids who know what it's like, because they're grieving too. The Carriage House is the first grief center in central Massachusetts.

  5. History:
