Agency Details:
Catholic Charities Youville House
Every family has the basic right to safe, adequate healthy housing. Some families are denied that right because of unjust circumstances. Youville House is an advocate with those families so that they can excercise and enjoy their right to decent housing. Some families abuse their right to housing because of a complexity of reasons. Youville House explores those reasons with these families and assists them to use their own resources to regain their right to housing and to accept the responsibilities of such rights. We shall seek to accomplish these tasks within the least amount of time required in order to promote self-sufficiency of the family unit.
Description:
Youville House is a shelter for homeless families. While here, we work with the families and assess their strengths, weaknesses, family functioning, etc. and then work with them in the areas that need strengthening etc. We have the ability to house sixteen families at any one given time and their stay her can be anywhere from 3 months to a full year depending on the housing market and their ability to afford safe, adequate housing.
History:
Youville House was founded in 1983 as a homeless shelter for families in the Worcester County area.
