Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Commonwealth Corps Member. Pernet Family Health Service - Fund Development Specialist. Commonwealth Corps, a program launched last year by Governor Deval Patrick's office in conjunction with Massachusetts Service Alliance, has funded Pernet Family Health Service to support four service opportunities in the Green Island and lower Vernon Hill neighborhoods of Worcester.

The mission of the Commonwealth Corps is to engage Massachusetts residents of all ages and backgrounds in direct service to rebuild communities and address their unmet needs. Commonwealth Corps will provide opportunities for skill building and leadership development to encourage and enhance a lifelong civic vocation for its members. The Fund Development Specialist position is a half-time, stipended volunteer position based at Pernet Family Health Service (www.pernetfamilyhealth.org). This member will work with a team of three other members serving at Pernet Family Health Service. Half-time members are required to serve at least 800 hours over the course of ten months, and will receive a stipend of up to $5000 distributed over ten months and up to $900 as an end-of-service bonus. Requirements: Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially the ability to interpret Pernet Family Health Service's mission for various audiences • Creativity in designing and carrying out campaigns to supplement Pernet's Family and Community Development program with additional sources of funding • Respect and compassion for Pernet Family Health Service's clients and their efforts to care for themselves and their families • Flexibility in dealing with changes in schedules and programs • Ability to meet deadlines and work as a member of a team. Responsibilities • Research new sources of funding • Develop grant applications • Design and execute a signature fund-raising event
