Organization Details:
Caring For Kaela, Inc. (CFK)
CFK is a Christian relief and development organization whose Vision is to empower the lives of destitute children worldwide, regardless of race, creed, or gender, and strengthen the communities where we operate by building the foundation for peaceful and productive societies and promoting self-sustained, people-centered approaches to development.
Description:
CFK is currently developing the following programs in Chad, Central Africa: (1) National Peace Forum (Forum National de la Paix): national conference bringing all stakeholders (government, rebel, international community, and local civil society) together for a dialogue on peace and democracy in Chad. Restoring peace in fragile states; (2) Civic Education Campaign: mass education program on constitutional rights and civic responsibilities; (3) Today’s Youth and Culture Chad (TYCC): concert series providing a platform for young Chadian Artists to express themselves on the issues of Peace, Unity, and Reconciliation in today’s Chad. Engaging youths in non-violent activism; and (4) Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program (PRP): transitioning Street Children from the street into a home environment. Working with the foster mother to improve her revenue generating activities and following the child’s education until it leads to employment. Strengthening the family and transforming communities.
History:
CFK was incorporated in 2004 and received its 501(c) (3) status in March 2005. Soon thereafter, Caring for Kaela identified the location of its first poverty reduction initiative; Chad, Central Africa. Faced with the devastating poverty of a country led by a corrupt and unstable government that interfered with the population’s opportunity for peace and development, CFK decided to get involved.
